Spray Foam Roofing Systems

Polyurethane spray foam, or SPF as it is known in the industry, is a combination of liquids that, when mixed, form a foam.  This foam is sprayed directly on your existing roofing system.  As it dries, the foam expands to more than 20% its original volume.  As the expansion occurs, seams, cracks, and other potential sources of leak are sealed into a single, monolithic, fully waterproof layer.

Why Use SPF Foam Coating?  There are a lot of good reasons.  SPF coatings are highly reflective, which means they block UV rays from damaging the foam, allowing your roofing system to function properly. The greater energy efficiency of SPF means you will enjoy lower utility costs.  It reduces both your cooling and heating costs due to its reflectivity as well as insulation properties.

SPF has an open or closed cell construction and is completely waterproof. This creates a barrier against leaks that can cause nasty mold growth or serious structural damage. Even if the system gets mechanically damaged, the closed-cell nature of the foam will still prevent water from infiltrating your roofing system.

Best of all, we don’t have to remove the entire roof to install SPF, saving you money on labor, materials and debris removal.  The reduction in landfill waste makes SPF an environmentally attractive decision, as well.  SPF roofing systems that are properly installed and well maintained can last for up to 30 years, the rough weather in Montana notwithstanding.

Polyurethane SPF Installation

Who you hire to perform SPF roof installation is even more important than the product itself.  If the spray foam roofing contractor doesn’t know how to adjust energies during installation, you could end up with a bad application and a sub-standard system performance. This will lead to foam that blisters, develops holes, and cracks. These will impact your system performance and lead to system failure over time.

Flag Ship Foam and Coatings has been installing SPF roofing systems across Montana for close to two decades. That is 20 years of happy commercial building owners, 20 years of professional experience and 20 years of saving business owners money.

Installation of SPF is a straight-forward manner and generally requires no little or no suspension of your business activities. Once the roof is properly prepared, the foam is applied.

Timing is everything when it comes to installing SPF coatings. We can’t perform an installation during cold, rainy, or windy weather, so it is important that the job is properly planned and scheduled.
